Support During Coronavirus School Changes

Whether your school is partially open, completely closed or returning to a ‘new normal’, Phonics Hero is here to support you.

Parents: if you are reading this, we offer free 7-day trials of Phonics Hero, independent of schools. You might also want to take a look at our worksheet packs and read my post about how I helped my child learn to read at home.

How We Can Support Your School

Free 30-Day Phonics Hero Account for Children

Every school can issue each child their own Phonics Hero login, for use at home or school on a computer, iPad or Android tablet. We have an obligation-free, 30 day trial which can be started at any time. Once your trial is up, your school can elect to purchase the accounts or parents can extend their child’s subscription by 6 months.

To set your students’ accounts up, log in (or sign up first) and hit ‘Trial Child Accounts’. If you get stuck, this quick video will show you how to do it:

Child Accounts – extra resources:

  • You will need to communicate with parents on how to use Phonics Hero at home. We’ve written a letter for you to send home which details tech specifications and how to log in. We also have Spanish and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) translations.
  • You can keep track of children’s progress with the reporting feature in your Teacher Account.

  • Keep up children’s motivation with our colour-in certificates.

  • Interactive, No-Prep Phonics Lessons

If you are going to be teaching phonics lessons, either recorded or face-to-face, take a look at our click-and-go Phonics Lessons. They provide the structure and the content you need to run your phonics lesson. We have an obligation-free 30 day free trial. Take a look at our trailer:

To activate your trial, log in or sign up to a Teacher Account and click ‘Phonics Lessons’ in the menu on the left.

    Worksheets

In your Teacher Account, you have access to over 200 free worksheets, covering all levels and skills. You can download these and send them to parents, or print them for your students to take and keep at home. Access them via the Learning Library in the Teacher Account.

If parents want to purchase the whole pack of over 200 worksheets themselves, for a very reasonable US$20, send them to our Playing with Sounds Worksheets (Australia and Hong Kong) or Letters and Sounds Worksheets (rest of the world).

      I am not a teacher. I am a parent.
My child’s school has closed due to the virus and I was given a user name and password by their teacher, so I could access this website to teach my child phonics while off school.
I can’t get it to work.
      Please help

      1. Katherine Wood says:

        Hi Sarah-Jane,

I’m so sorry to hear that! Can you send an email to info@phonicshero.com with your child’s username and password? Hopefully, we can get this sorted for you quickly.

    2. Barbra McKenzie says:

We have been using Phonics Hero for both Kinder and now Year 1. Previously this has worked without any issues, but just tried to log on and the package doesn’t recognise our password. Can you assist please?

      1. Katherine Wood says:

Hi Barbra, you should have received an email. Hopefully we can get this resolved for you quickly!

    3. Diane Herman says:

What would be an approx cost should we extend past the 30 day trial? Thanks

      1. Katherine Wood says:

        Hi Diane,
It really depends on how many students you have. If you send us an email on info@phonicshero.com with your details and we can send you a quote.

    4. Clare says:

Will you be looking at extending the free trial whilst schools are closed due to Covid19?

      1. Katherine Wood says:

        Hi Clare,

We are a small company and, unfortunately, don’t have the ability to offer Phonics Hero completely free. That said, our priority is to make us accessible for every child and I believe we are very reasonable. Feel free to get in touch (info@phonicshero.com)

    5. Lauren Rowe says:

I have a parent who would like to pay to continue their child’s account once the school’s free access has finished. They don’t want to lose the progress they’ve made. Is this possible please?

      1. Katherine Wood says:

Hi Lauren, it sure is. Please drop us an email on info@phonicshero.com and we will get you sorted.

Any chance I could download your app onto an Amazon Fire device?

      1. Jenny Hedger says:

        Hi Sharon,

Unfortunately the Phonics Hero app won’t work on an Amazon Fire device. We are compatible with many Android devices, iPads, and the games can be accessed by logging in on a computer (we recommend the Google Chrome browser).

    7. Kari Lamond says:

How much is a school subscription?

      1. Jenny Hedger says:

        Hi Kari,

We can tailor a quote to your school’s needs. Just fill out the form here and your area’s account manager will get back to you shortly! https://phonicshero.com/for-teachers/quote-school/

        Best,

        Jenny
